Pre-sailing Thoughts

Its 3 weeks till departure, and I’m very excited. I still can’t believe that I’m really doing this. I will be traveling to 10 counties in 3 different continents, wow how many people get this opportunity in their life? I’m very thankful and grateful to god for giving me this once in a life time opportunity and to Semester At Sea for making my dream come true.

I’m excited to be in every country listed in the voyage. I want to see the Chinese, Japans and Indian cultures (past and present). I’m excited to go to Spain (Barcelona since I love Spanish futbol), but as excited to see history, sites and culture in many of this countries I can’t wait to be back in Africa, even thought I will not be back in my home country (Sudan), I’m still excited to go to S. Africa, Ghana, and Morocco where cultures and traditions are similar to back home which I have missed so much.

As excited as I’m about going back to Africa I still wonder how similar are the other African counties to my own or to my second home (U.S), in problems that face them, how do they handle the issues facing them? How will I personally be perceived by people on my views?
In Morocco I can’t wait to see the Arab and Islamic culture, I want to see how they differ from those from the other countries that we will visit. How much does their religious believe effect their way of governing?

As psych-out as I’m I know that this journey will be very memorable and life changing. I want to thank all the Semester at Sea families who have been very genuine and keen in their support. Keep posting for updates on the journey
